Starting (of course) with an Oscar- Award winner and one of the most well-know movies dealing with homosexuality. A powerful and emotional masterpiece about the secret love affair of two cowboys, who share some glimpses of happiness working at Brokeback mountain. Tearful? YES. Great performances? YES.
2) Blue is The Warmest Color (2013)

The movie that we HAVE to include in this list and definitely watch it once in our life time. Adele is a high school girl, who falls in love with a blue-haired woman. The movie has everything: great performances, happiness, sorrow, great music, tension, sensual scenes and the best ingredient– the idea that Love is beyond all social ‘norms’.

A film with simple plot (quite conventional): boy meets boy and they fall instantly in love. BUT the simplicity of the movie highlights the feeling of pure affection and love that can be developed between two people after something that is more than just an one-night stand. You will have the feeling that this might be a couple living next door!
4)Out In The Dark (2012)

This movie comes straight from Israel, blending homosexuality with political issues. Two men meet and fall in love, one is from Palestine and the other one from Israel. Due to the political conflicts between the two countries and the strictly traditional society they live in, they have to suffer and fight in order to spend some happy days together. Will they make it? Watch it as soon as possible!

Italy, 1938, Hitler visits Rome and the whole city celebrates his arrival. Except of a homosexual journalist, who has been persecuted and a housewife, who spends most of her days taking care of her family. They share a mutual affection, they confront the truth about themselves and they depict the fear of being different during the rise of Nazism. A mesmerizing film that you will never forget!
6)Bad Education [original title: La Mala Educatión] (2005)

Well well, what do we have here? Oh yes… Almodóvar and Gael García Bernal and a harsh reality which unfolds gradually in the film. Depicting the restricted religious schools during the era of Franco, Almodovar explores the relationship between two boys and their sexual abuse by Father Manolo. A movie, point of reference for the LGBT community. Watch (or re-watch) it!
The life of Carol is divided between her being a lesbian and being a mother. She falls in love with Therese and her husband tries to keep her apart from her child. Motherhood. Lesbian existence. Stunning performances. Impressive cinematography and red everywhere!
8)Boys Don’t Cry (1999)
… But you will probably cry…Hilary Swank (yes, it is her in the photo), gives one of the most remarkable performances. Teena is born as a female but she wants to live as a male. Adopting a more masculine external appearance and a new identity, Teena searches for love and happiness at Nebraska.
9) Free Fall [original title: Freier Fall] (2013)

Marc is a policeman, married, and soon he will be a father. BUT he falls in love with a new fellow worker. His feelings for another man complicate his relationship with his wife and he goes through a period of denial and anger. Is he wiling to explore his sexual identity or is he going to ‘find shelter’ within the social norms? Watch it and find it out! (YOU WON’T REGRET IT).
10)The Way He Looks [original title: Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho] (2014)
Leonardo is a blind teenager. Gabriel comes in his life and changes the way Leonardo perceives the world. A coming-of-age movie, through the eyes of two young boys, who accept their sexual identity and enjoy life! I am 100% convinced that it will leave a smile on your face… HIGHLY RECOMMENTED!
*Part One came to an end.. Stay tune for Part Two 😀 *
